I honestly think that this charming fellow is one of the greatest literary creations of our time. Characters this psychologically and philosophically deep and fascinating are rare to say the least. Just read The Killing Joke the other day, what a great study of the Joker, and you can totally see how Alan Moore's influence has bled through into subsequent incarnations of the character, Nolan/Ledger's absolutely brilliant version included.
